     Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is pleased to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the 2012 Statewide Recognition Awards, sponsored by TSR Injury Law.  The awards ceremony will be held on February 27th, 2012 at the MN Science Museum in St. Paul.

    NOMINATION CATEGORIES: 

    Law Enforcement Awards:  *Outstanding Service, *Outstanding Rookie, *Outstanding Agency, *Environmental Strategy  Prevention, *MADD Hero

    Judge Awards:  *Metro Area, *Greater Minnesota

    Prosecutor Awards:  * Metro Area, *Greater Minnesota

    Community Awards:  *Policy Setter, *Public Safety Representative, *Tom Keating

    The goal of the recognition awards is to highlight individuals who in their work or daily lives embrace MADD’s mission to eliminate drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. Nomination forms are online at www.madd.org/mn.  Nomination forms will be accepted until January 27th, 2012.

    AARP and Vital Aging Network (VAN) join forces to Fight Fraud:  Fraud Fighters forum in St. Paul will Help You Avoid and Prevent Scams!  AARP/VAN FRAUD FIGHTERS FORUM, DECEMBER 13th, 2011, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.  Details on the flier here.  RSVP:1-877-926-8300.

    The Sexual Violence Prevention Network ~~ co-hosted by the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs, the University of Minnesota Center for Leadership Education in Maternal and Child Health, and the Minnesota Department of Health ~~ is a quarterly gathering to support information sharing, networking and collaboration. At each SVPN meeting, there is time for both informal and group networking, followed by a presentation on a special prevention topic.     Mark your calendars!  The Office of Justice Programs is pleased to sponsor the OJP Annual Conference on Crime and Victimization.  The 2012 Conference will be held May 30- June 1, 2012.  The Conference brochure, complete with workshops, registration, lodging, scholarship and award nomination information, will be mailed out in March 2012.


    The National Center for Victims of Crime is pleased to announce that the Responding to Crime Victims with Disabilities National Training Conference will be held December 13-15, 2011, at the JW Marriott Orlando Grand Lakes in Orlando, Florida.
