National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)

On behalf of the Minnesota Alliance on Crime (MAC), we would like to thank you and your organization for participating in National Crime Victim’s Rights Week (NCVRW), April 10 -16, 2011.  Your efforts helped make this year’s theme, “Reshaping the Future ~ Honoring the Past”, a huge success!

At least 33 Minnesota organizations participated in NCVRW activities this year.  The activities were diverse and creative:  traveling information booths, displays in government centers, law schools and libraries, a radio program, local cable coverage and a press conference honoring NCVRW and Minnesota’s new enhancements to its victim notification systems, VINE and CHOICE.

MAC would like to extend special thanks to the Department of Public Safety Commissioner, Mona Dohman, and Department of Corrections Commissioner, Tom Roy, for honoring crime victims in Minnesota by recognizing the important significance of NCVRW at its press conference.

MAC and its partners also created a special photo montage project that recognizes and honors the success and dedication of our predecessors in the Minnesota crime victims’ rights movement.  The photo project also seeks to raise public awareness of the issues still faced by all too many crime victims in Minnesota.  Thank you to our collaborators on this project:  The Office of Justice Programs, ElderCare Rights Alliance, Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, Rice County Victim Assistance,  Council on Crime and Justice, Dakota County Victim Services, MADD and Waseca Victim Services, Brooklyn Center Police Department, Brooklyn Park Police Department, Joint Community Police Partnership, The Family Partnership PRIDE Program, Division of Indian Work, Communication Services for the Deaf-MN, Minneapolis Police Department, Minnesotans for Safe Driving, CADA, and LA-MANO, Inc.
