The Minnesota Alliance on Crime (MAC) is convening both virtual and an in-person regional meetings in November 2024 for our members throughout the state. These meetings are an excellent opportunity for you to discuss emerging issues in your community and to learn more about what’s happening in other regions of the state and at MAC. MAC is changing the format of regional meetings this year to accommodate our plan to have an in-person regional meeting in each region, as well as reduce redundancy. The new format is one virtual meeting for all regions, and one in-person for the region we are traveling to that quarter.
November’s regional meetings will include presentations from the Department of Corrections about the Minnesota Rehabilitation and Reinvestment Act and what it will mean for victims and their families in 2025. These sweeping changes to our corrections system will go into effect January 1st of 2025, and affect nearly every incarcerated individual as well as those on community supervision. MAC will also present on our legislative priorities, including the amount we will be requesting for CVS funding from the state legislature.
The November 20th meeting is in-person for the Southern region. This meeting will take place in-person in Mankato at the Blue Earth County Justice Center. Room 2166, second floor.
The November 21st meeting is virtual and for all regions. MAC staff will present on updates relevant to members, then each region will be separated out into breakout rooms where MAC staff will facilitate a discussion about any emerging issues that you are seeing in your area.
